Step back in time and experience the story of Saskatchewan agriculture and rural life at the Western Development Museum's Heritage Farm and Village in North Battleford.
The Western Development Museum has a fantastic exhibit gallery featuring "Winning the Prairie Gamble: The Saskatchewan Story." Follow the timeline of Saskatchewan's history from 1905 to 2005. Enjoy a "ride" down an elevator shaft into an underground display of Saskatchewan minerals. Learn about coal mining from the beginning to the technological advances of today. Climb through a "gopher" hole to see how farmers dug their coal for their home stoves.
Also view the Vintage Vehicle Gallery.
In the summer visitors can experience our heritage village. Stroll the boardwalk to enjoy a 1920s main street experience that includes a Doctor's Office/ Drugstore, a Co-op store, telephone office, and a towering grain elevator. Visit an authentic farm yard that boasts an early 1900s original farm house and livestock barn. One can also admire the ethereal beauty of three churches in their original speldor: Ukranian Orthodox, Polish, and Anglican. Tour our historic houses to see the differences in how people lived in the 1920s.
